SHOW YOUR STYLES TO THE WORLD - SERIES


Hi Friends!!!

     Wishing All of u a Very Happy 2013 and a Happy Pongal...May God shower u all that u need and let this year be the 1 where all ur dreams come true. So with a joyfull heart lets put a start with this new series.

     I start this year in joining hands with one of my best friend Vijayalakshmi from Virunthu Unna Vanga in SHOW YOUR STYLES TO THE WORLD - SERIES. Viji is my inspiration to start with the blog. The best part of her blog is that she tries out with different recipes and presents it with pictures such that it explains on itself. Though I was bit busy with my 1 year old kid, i used to peep in to blog whenever i get time. And Now i Like to contribute  my time in conducting this series so as to get variations in the recipes all over the world which depend on the individuals culinary vision.

CONCEPT OF THE SERIES

For example  
Main Ingredients - Rice and Milk - Rice Kheer, Pongal etc... 

The main ingredients would be the same but they may have variation regionally and even individually like using different types of rice or milk products or in cooking method etc... So we would like to collect or gather all variations in one place so that we all can learn new recipes or new techniques in what we all already know.

DETAILS OF THE SERIES - SYS-W
  1. Any main or combo of ingredients will be given on the very first day of every month.
  2. All of you can try out one or two (optional) recipes with your way of innovations or variations, without omitting the given ingredients that I have mentioned and it should be dominated in the recipe. 
  3. But you have the option to substitute the main ingredients in your way within the species or family. For ex:
    • Cereals substituted with other type of cereals.
    • Lentils substituted with other type of lentils.
  4. Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian allowed.
  5. Post your recipe on your blog with the following details,
    • Ingredients with clear measurements
    • Methods
    • Variation or Innovation if any
    • At least two of your food pictures
  6. Post the logo and link to the respective page is mandatory.
    • Vegetarian recipes including desserts link to Virunthu Unna Vanga that she have given linky tool on her space.
    • Non-Vegetarian recipes should link to Gat's Samayal that i have given linky tool in my space.
  7. Non-bloggers can also send your recipes to mail id - vgdharmaraj@gmail.com with the following details,
    • Your name 
    • Contact mail id 
    • Recipe name
    • Ingredients with clear measurements
    • Methods
    • Variation and Innovation if any
    • Pictures
OK Now you have submitted your recipe and then NEXT???
Coming to the main part of the series is the joyful evaluation part...
  1. All your recipes will be evaluated by all members of the group - YOU ARE THE JUDGES.
  2. I will send survey sheet to your mail id with some details that is needed for calculating the points and you have to rate each recipes and then send it back to my mail.
  3. Vijayalakshmi ( Evaluates Veg. Recipes)and Gathampari ( Evaluates Non-Veg Recipes)will also do evaluation with respective categories and compare with all the judgement and then announce the result of the month.

TIMINGS OF THE SERIES
It starts 1st of each month till end of the month.
You have one month time to do the recipe and link into the respective page.

RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT
The results will be announced on 10th of every month.
First two months we will be announcing the recipe for the series and a surprise is awaiting for you, which will be revealed later.

DRUMSTICK FLOWERS STIR FRY (Murungai poo poriyal)


Ingredients 


  • Oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Split Channa Dal- 1/4 t spoon
  • Split Urad dal - 1/4 t spoon
  • Chopped Shallots - 1/4 cup
  • Curry leaves - 2 stem
  • Dry chilli - 2
  • Murungai poo - 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 t spooon
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Grated coconut - 3 table spoon
Method




  • Saute the items given in the same order.
  • Once the flowers are cooked and it becomes completely dry, add the grated coconut and serve hot.
Note:
  • Choose the flowers that are opened.
  • Soak the flowers in the water with salt for 20 mins and then give a final wash with warm water.
My Guru:

She is my world,  most precious gift of my life and the biggest asset , is none other than my mom.
My culinary experiments started by the inspiration of her art of cooking. So i dedicate this blog to her.


CAULIFLOWER SEMI GRAVY

Ingredients

To marinate
  • Cauliflower florets
  • Chilly powder
  • Salt
To fry and grind
  • Fennal Seeds - 1/2 t spoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 t spoon
  • Cumin - 1/4 tspoon
To grind
  • Ginger - a small piece
  • Garlic - 5 pods
  • Coriander leaves - 1 cup
To smash with mortar and pestle
  • Curry leaves - 3 stems
  • Aniseed - 1 t spoon
To saute
  • Oil
  • Cinnamon - 2 small pieces
  • Chopped onion - 1
  • Chopped tomatoes - 3
Method




  • Marinate the cauliflower florets in the chilly powder and salt mix  for 30 mins, after washing it thoroughly with the cold and warm water.
  • Shallow fry the marianated florets and keep it aside.
  • Then saute the items given under the heading to saute 
  • Add the fried florets and add the ground materials one by one ( 1, Ginger garlic paste. 2, Ground Coriander leaves 3, Smashed materials and then To fry and grind mix.)  and allow it to boil well and get thickened.
  • Once its in semi form serve it with chappathis or pulkas.

Note:

Grind ginger and garlic separately
Grind coriander leaves separately

My Guru:

My loveable sis is the one from whom i learn mouth relishing dishes. She tries out different recipes for which she adds her own taste and flavor. She makes it so dedicatedly and have lot of patience in making it attractive and tastier. I Owe it to her.
