LEMON IDYAPPAM


Ingredients

  • Rice - 2 cups (soaked 2 hrs)
  • Gingely oil - 3 table spoons
     To saute
  • Oil
  • Mustard - 1/2 t spoon
  • Split channa dal - 1/2 t spoon
  • Split urad dal - 1/2 t spoon
  • Chopped Shallots- 20
  • Curry leaves- 2 stem
  • Green chilli / dry chilli 
  • Turmeric -1/2 t spoon
  • Lemon juice  from 2 lemons
  • Plain idyappam
Method




  • Grind the rice after soaking to the consistency of idly batter.
  • Saute ground batter with gingely oil, until u can make balls out of it without sticking to ur hands.
  • Make small balls and steam cook in idly kadai for about 1 hr and check whether its cooked by cutting it with knife and whether the glassy nature on both the cuts are same.
  • Put the cooked balls in the idyappam machine and on pressing u can get ur idyappam ready.

  • Saute the items given in the given order
  • Once the lime juice is added , allow it to boil well untill the raw smell goes off.
  • Then add the plain Idyappam and fold well in the above sauted and boiled lemon mix.
